The Northern Centre May Day Bank Holiday Weekend - 2018
Friday 4th to Monday 7th May
Welcome to the Whitewater Hotel in Backbarrow (LA12 8PX), the venue for the Northern Centre Lakes weekend. The hotel is located on the banks of the River Leven just to the West of Newby Bridge, away from the heavy traffic in the central Lakes. In the past it was a mill, making amongst other things 'Dolly Blue'. Does that bring back memories? The hotel also has a spa, gymnasium and swimming pool, so there's plenty of opportunity to 'burn off' some of those calories gained over the weekend. The Lakeside classic car museum is next door and a steam railway just one mile down the road which runs to Lake Windermere where you can step off the train and onto a boat around the Lake.
As you can see, the hotel also has a well stocked bar where you can relax and spend time chatting to old friends.
When you arrive on Friday, please register at our reception desk and pick up your 'Welcome Pack'. Tea and coffee will be available in the lounge so you can make yourself comfortable and relax after your journey. Saturday is free & easy. You can do the planned route, visit the museum, travel on the train or simply do your own thing, the choice is yours. In the evening we'll have entertainment after dinner. Sunday will be another planned route, this time visiting several lakes and of course - going over Hardknott Pass. After dinner, we'll have our usual charity Cornish raffle of prizes kindly donated by us all. Raffle tickets will be on sale during the evening. This will be followed by the awarding of trophies for the best cars in various classes. Monday I'm afraid, we have to say farewell.
A Booking Form is enclosed with this month's Revcounter where details of room types and rates can be found. Special rates are also in place for shoulder nights on a DB&B basis. Should you require any further information, please contact Paul Johnson by or by phone on .
P.S. Some of you might have noticed that the hotel is in the South Lakes and not the North as published in our first advert. Unfortunately this was due to circumstances beyond our control.
