Lakes and Dales Sub Centre. Inaugural Run.                 Sunday 17th April 2005.

The first Lakes and Dales run out on Sunday 17th April produced six cars including two newcomers, a surprisingly fine day, quiet open roads and can be classed as a moderate success. A fifty mile run in the morning around the fells and villages east of Shap, returning via Appleby - incorporating an optional short off road section beyond the obligatory ford - and ending up at the Black Bull for lunch. Even getting called back to the Fat Lamb at lunchtime, because the staff discovered we had been burgled, didn't spoil the day - although missing my lunch nearly did. This was followed by an extra afternoon run for those with the time, driving down into the Dales and back up over the tops to the Tan Hill for coffee. All in all an enjoyable day judging from the feedback I have received so far.
