Cheshire Treasure Hunt & BBQ.  by Ivor Davies.                                                 7th July 2002

The Northern Centre managed to arrange a "window" in the inclement weather and some 16 Healeys criss-crossed the lanes of Northern Cheshire in beautiful weather collecting the answers to a treasure hunt. Starting from the War Memorial in Bowdon the run took in Lymm, the picturesque village of Great Budworth, the newly furbished Anderson  Boat Lift which raises and lowers boats between the Weaver Navigation and the Trent and Mersey Canal at Northwich, and Knutsford before returning to the home of Pam and Ivor Davies, close to the starting point in Altrincham.

The competition was very hotly contested and "Clerk of the Course" and Adjudicator" Pam was both amazed at the competitive efforts of some of the teams and amused at some of the more speculative attempts at answers. One particularly amusing response in answer to the question "Do couch potatoes grow from these?" was "Appleton Thorn Primary School" instead of the correct answer which was "T.V.Seeds" - Well done Linda and Stewart.

The winners were new members of the Club and as they took their completed entry form with them, presumably to gloat, I am unable to remember their names. Perhaps they will help me recover from such "senior moment" and remind me on the next event as I am sure that, like everyone else, they enjoyed the day. The Ridyards were runners up (the back tracking at the start certainly paid dividends!). Our dog Scruffy was exceedingly grateful for all the tit bits from the barbecue, and the Chalmers added drama by breaking down and being trailered home despite not actually taking part in the run.
