May Bank Holiday weekend - Anglesey.           April 28th to May 1st 2006.

Report and Photos by Mike Smith.

This year's event was arranged to take place for the first time in North Wales based on the beautiful island of Anglesey
. Tre-Ysgawen Hall Hotel and Spa proved to be probably the best venue ever chosen in the history of this popular event, with the whole of this luxurious hotel being taken over by the Healey folks. All 29 rooms were booked and filled. I wonder who ended up with the luxury suite with four poster bed and en suite jacuzzi?

We gathered on the Friday afternoon and evening and many availed themselves of the fabulous leisure facilities with a splendid indoor swimming pool and staff on hand to provide all manner of luxurious beauty and massage treatments.
Saturday dawned bright and sunny and we were given many options including visiting Caernarfon, shopping in Beaumaris (popular with the menfolk!!) or watching the race practice at the local racing circuit (a must for the ladies!!) We opted to explore the North West coastline and walk part of the beautiful coastal path which almost runs around the whole of the island.
All these events took place in the afternoon following a pleasant lunch in the gardens of the White Eagle Pub at Rhoscolyn on Holy Island near to Holyhead.
Saturday evening after an excellent dinner, we were entertained by a local magician. His two guest assistants were May Fitton and Caroline Curran, a duo who had even the magician baffled and whose repartee had us all in stitches.

Sunday dawned and the majority prepared for the day's long run into Snowdonia. En route they were joined by a company of day trippers in Healeys, and despite the cold weather and the Bank holiday traffic and busy watering stops all enjoyed the outing.

Carol and I opted out, my excuse being that a gammy left knee was not conducive to competition clutch operation in a big Healey. Instead we took a walk (or should I say limp ) through the pretty Newborough forest, spending some time in a bird watching hide we discovered, watching the geese on the lake.

Sunday night was party night with dancing into the early hours. Ken announced the results of the Koncours whereby all members voted on their favourite cars.

Recently married in Las Vegas were Fran and Derek Olivant. (Left)

Also in attendance two newly engaged couples viz Dennis Quale and Debbie and Mike Smith and Carol.

Another very successful weekend greatly enjoyed by all. Our thanks once again to organiser Ken Broster ably assisted by better half Kathy.

CHEERS KEN!!!
