I always love Race Retro, although not everyone’s “cup of tea” it does point the way to spring and “wheel to wheel” old car racing. Whilst the main venue had its share of Healey racers, the auction boasted a couple of rally spec 3000s, but the tastiest was a mint Florida green 100M. My own favourites were the seven Lotus Elans from the Piddington collection, but that’s another story.
News from around the North
The February N. Wales noggin saw a celebration of John and James Hughes motorsport activities, as a founder member of the North Wales section, John has been at the centre of club activities for over 4 decades! Attendees were treated to a short film (compiled by John Bowman) of the Hughes family track exploits and their impressive Trophy collection.

Great news from Jeff Hollinshead, of Yorkshire section fame, the restoration of his 1964 Express Car 3000 MkIII has reached the panel first fit stage. A major milestone in any restoration when the box of bits starts to look like a car, maybe time for Jeff to push hard and get it ready for National concours at Wetherby on July 19th!

- North Wales - fully subscribed already as the pub has very limited catering facilities. Contact John or Jill Bowman if you want to join the reserve list.
- Yorkshire - Open to all Northern Centre members, Jeff tells me they’ll meet at Abbey Tea Rooms Bolton Abbey at 9.30am, so an early one! Leaving after a coffee and driving (a distance 44 miles) through Wharfedale, Kettlewell, Buckden, Buttertubs Pass, Muker to The Tan Hill Inn, (Britain's Highest Inn) for lunch at 12.30. Members can join us on route if it is more convenient than meeting us at the start point. After lunch members can make their own way home, or use one to the suggested routes provided. - The Car’s the Star - provisional date - Sunday 16th July. Holker Hall and the Kirby Lonsdale Motor Club organise this special car show with a Lake District feel. Always a handful of members' cars there, but plenty of room for more. Contact Phil Kershaw 07836 622293.

- Friday 25th August 2023 - Cheshire BBQ. We are planning a run in the Peak District starting at the Avro Heritage Museum with photo opportunities alongside the Vulcan XM603 and finishing at a BBQ in the Paddock at St Marys Church in Nether Alderly, Cheshire. More details to come.
- 2nd-3rd September 2023 - Croft Nostalgia The North Eastern team are planning to return to the Croft Circuit to attend the Historic Sports Car Club Race meeting.
